Meet the Owner
"I have a love relationship with the Blue Ridge Mountains. There is a peacefulness here in the simple way of life. It's a special place."
When I was searching for the right cabin I knew Husk Homestead was the one the minute I saw those authentic hand-hewn logs. I just fell in love. They don't make them like that anymore. But the cabin has modern conveniences, which makes it the perfect getaway.
In the warmer months I adore the wrap around porch – I practically live on it in the summer! You can gaze at the mountains; watch the fog roll in. There is something about Husk Homestead that makes me relax. You can't be there and not relax. I feel rooted and grounded there, closer to nature and at peace spiritually.
I hope when you visit you'll enjoy the slower pace of life there as much as I do. You can walk to the charming town of Lansing; it's just down the hill. You'll notice people are very kind and open. You really feel that southern hospitality.
What I love most about staying at Husk is that I am free to do nothing, or do a whole bunch. There are a lot of recreational opportunities in the area with hiking, biking, canoeing, hunting and fishing. There's the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Appalachian Trail, Mount Jefferson, the Virginia Creeper Trail, and the towns of Todd, Wilkesboro, Boone and West Jefferson with their art galleries, shops and restaurants.
There's a lot to do here to get back to nature, but there are also many chances to hear good music, bluegrass especially. You're truly in the heart of Appalachia when you visit Husk Homestead. I hope you'll book an escape with us soon!
